Pregnancy Vancouver
About Us
An initiative of the Vancouver Division of Family Practice, PregnancyVancouver.ca has provided valuable information for the public about maternity care in the City of Vancouver for nearly a decade. The website has helped make it EASI* for pregnant people in Vancouver to find a Family Doctor with maternity special interest to support them throughout their pregnancy journey, including labour and birth.

Our Commitment to Inclusivity
We understand and appreciate that people and communities are diverse. We want our website to be a welcoming place that respects everyone’s experiences and identities, whether they are thinking about, currently going through, or have finished their pregnancy journey. We know that pregnancy, childbirth, and lactation can happen to people who don’t identify as women, including trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit individuals.
We want to be open and honest as we learn and grow in understanding diversity and using the right words. On this website, we will be referring to pregnant people. We will often use the term “you” to address and support you on your journey. We may also use other terms like “pregnant person” and “women” when appropriate, depending on the resources we’re talking about.
When discussing the intentional end of a human pregnancy, we will use “termination” as the main heading. However, the intent is not to replace the term abortion, which will also be used.
To follow best practice from other leading maternity care organizations, we will use the term “breast/chest feeding.”

About the EASI* Maternity Care Project
The list of valuable and trusted patient information now available on PregnancyVancouver.ca is courtesy of the EASI (Effective And Seamlessly Integrated) Maternity Care Project. Funding for this Project was provided by the Shared Care Committee, one of the Joint Collaborative Committees of Doctors of BC and the BC Government.
Since 2019, Vancouver-based Family Doctors, Midwives, Obstetricians, maternity care allied health providers and patients have reviewed and recommended a selection of trusted patient resources to further empower you in navigating the maternity journey. Together, we are dedicated to improving the maternity experience for all who are expecting in Vancouver! We’ve partnered with Pathways BC to provide access to key resources and links, which you can also find on their platform. Pregnancy Vancouver includes additional information and services to support your journey. Click here to access the Pathways BC platform.
